Leonardo Da Vinc's Childhood
Leonardo was born on April 15th 1452 in the town of Vinci, he was the son of notary Ser Piero da Vinci and a peasant woman called Caterina, he probably spent most of his time as a child with neither parent, but with his paternal uncle Francesco, who would later remember Leonardo in his will. Leonardo's father was busy in the near by city of Florence, and his mother, Caterina married got married. Francesco worked as a farmer, and Leonardo spent most of his childhood outdoors, observing nature, and possibly sketching it.
Leonardo received an informal education in Latin, geometry and mathematics, he moved to Florence In 1466 in 1466 , where he entered the workshop of Verrocchio and came into contact with such artists as Botticelli, Ghirlandaio, and Lorenzo di Credi. Early in his apprenticeship he painted an angel, and perhaps portions of the landscape, in Verrocchio's Baptism of Christ (Uffizi). In 1472 he was registered in the painters' guild.
